Banglo Farah, Bukit Tunku is KL's most famous abandoned bungalow story.
It's in Bukit Tunku (formerly Kenny Hills), the old colonial "Beverly Hills of KL" area. The house itself is a roofless, moss-covered colonial bungalow that has been empty for decades. Nobody lives there, but paranormal teams go non-stop.
Here is the legend as it's told:
The core story — Farah
"The story of Banglo Farah revolves around someone known as Farah who was allegedly brutally murdered by her own aunt. There are claims that her head has still not been found to this day and is supposedly buried somewhere around the bungalow. Farah became the victim of a ritual ceremony by her aunt for a certain purpose."
The detailed version from urban explorers:
- Farah was a teenage girl living with her aunt in that bungalow.
- Her aunt was said to be a practitioner of black magic — ilmu hitam. The most common version names the ilmu as Ilmu Rawa Rontek (sometimes spelt Rawarontek) — a Javanese occult science believed to make the owner immortal, where even if beheaded, the body can reattach if it touches the ground.
- The ritual: The aunt used Farah as a test subject. Story goes:
"The story of a teenage girl named Farah whose head was cut off by her aunt, who was said to practise black magic. It is believed that Farah's aunt used Farah as an experiment to strengthen her knowledge, which is Ilmu Rawa Rontek, which is said to be able to reattach severed body parts. The ritual failed. Farah died."
"It is said that Farah's head was cut off and her body was found in the middle of the house. Her head (which was never found) is believed to be buried in the kitchen."
Other versions say the head was buried somewhere in the kitchen floor or in the compound, and until today hasn't been found. That's why the current explorers keep going — recent titles like "Nek puteh bongkar lokasi tulang yang di tanam | Episode Akhir Banglo Farah" claim to reveal where the bones are buried.
Extra layers that got addedSome explorers claim the bungalow was once the residence of Malaysia's first Prime Minister — “rumah ini juga dikatakan pernah menjadi kediaman YAB Perdana Menteri yang pertama. Wallahua'lam.” — there is no record of it, but it adds prestige to the horror.
Another viral version from 2026: "This residence once witnessed a dark incident... A girl's head was once beheaded by her own aunt, who is believed to be a practitioner of black magic. The current condition of this bungalow is becoming more eerie..."
Paranormal YouTubers report white pontianak figures running past windows, black apparitions (lembaga hitam), and children's voices in the house.
Is it true?
Like the Kia Optima, there's no police report or court case under the name Farah that matches this. DBKL has no murder record tied to that specific lot. It's considered an urban legend that grew from:
A real abandoned colonial bungalow in Bukit Tunku that was left to rot (many were after the 80s property crash).
The Javanese Rawa Rontek myth that was very popular in Malay horror forums in the 2000s. The spooky look of the house itself — roofless, overgrown, perfect for content.
But for ghost hunters, it's a top 4 hotspot in Malaysia alongside Highland Towers, Crag Hotel, and Banglo Molly — which is why you will still see TikTok LIVE titles like "BANGLO FARAH BUKIT TUNKU!!!" every weekend.
