PANTAI BATU BURUK, KUALA TERENGGANU
Batu Buruk Beach is one of the most popular beaches in Terengganu. Contrary to its Malay name, which literally means "Beach of the Ugly Stone", a beautiful beach located just 1 km from Kuala Terengganu city centre, 450 km from Kuala Lumpur.
A popular venue for kite flying and picnics, the beach is always a hive of activity. Cultural performances, as well as demonstrations of traditional pastimes and games, are often staged here on weekends.
Visitors can savour an array of local food and beverages at the Batu Buruk Food Centre located near the beach.

On 21 July 2016, when we were at Batu Buruk Beach, we met a famous influencer and freelance preacher in Malaysia, Ustaz Azhar Idrus. He actively promotes public preaching in the mosque as well as on social media.

Warung Pak Maidin, which is located next to Batu Buruk Beach Resort, is owned by former national athlete Kamaruddin Maidin, who was the first Terengganu athlete to represent Malaysia in the Olympic Games in Rome in 1960.
He was the first Malaysian athlete to win 5 consecutive SEA Games (now SEA Games) gold medals and 2 triple jump gold medals starting in 1959.
He died of a chronic liver ailment on 19 April 2009 at Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital, Terengganu.

Try Kambing Bakar Guangzhou (Guangzhou Grilled Lamb), a recommended dish. For fans of grilled lamb, don't miss the opportunity to enjoy the grilled lamb here.

The Mayang Palace Food Court operated for 24 hours and is located in the strategic location of Jalan Pantai Batu Buruk. It serves as a great stopover for travellers and locals because of its amenities, such as a toilet and surau.

My colleagues and I from Yayasan Jantung Malaysia have been to Batu Buruk Beach several times from 2015 to 2018. We have been involved in the Health Screening programme in Kuala Terengganu and its surrounding areas. During our visits, we usually stay at resorts in Pantai Batu Buruk, such as Batu Buruk Beach Resort and Intan Beach Resort.

BATU BURUK BEACH RESORT
Nestled along Kuala Terengganu's famed beach is a captivating hub for tourists, offering a serene seaside escape in the heart of all action.
The resort has accommodations with an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a garden and a restaurant. Located 4.7 miles from the State Museum of Terengganu and 5.3 miles from the Crystal Mosque.
My colleagues and I have stayed at this resort several times when conducting health screening programmes around Kuala Terengganu, such as at MSU College, SJK (Cina) Chung Hwa Wei Sin, etc.

INTAN BEACH RESORT
Situated around a 10-minute drive from Pasar Payang Kuala Terengganu, the comfortable 2-star Intan Beach Resort, Kuala Terengganu, features Wi-Fi throughout the property and parking on site. Approximately 10 minutes by car from Islamic Heritage Park in Kuala Terengganu.
My colleague and I had stayed at this resort in 2016 during the Health Screening programme at PTPL College, Kuala Terengganu.

Is Batu Buruk Beach worth visiting?
Batu Buruk is not only about the beach and the sea. There are also some hidden gems that are worth exploring. The beach is a popular destination for the city folks of Terengganu and throughout Malaysia.
