Song Dynasty Town (Songcheng) is the largest theme park in Hangzhou (杭州宋城), featuring the cultural characteristics of the Song Dynasty (960 - 1279 AD), and also the first theme park built in Zhejiang. With Wuyun Mountain in the north, and West Lake to its northeast, Song Dynasty Town is on the northern bank of the Qiantang River. Its layout and architectural style are based on a precious ancient painting, 'Along the River during the Qingming Festival', which was made by famous painter Zhang Zeduan, displaying the urban landscape and people's living condition of that dynasty.

The park blends history, entertainment, and high-tech experiences. 

• "Romance of the Song Dynasty" Show (《宋城千古情》): Often described as a must-see, this large-scale stereoscopic musical drama incorporates acrobatics, music, dance, and special effects (fire, water, horses) to tell local legends and historical stories. It is considered one of the world's most famous shows.
• Immersive Atmosphere: Performers in traditional costumes wander the streets, creating a feeling of time travel. Visitors can also rent traditional Hanfu clothing for an immersive photo experience.
• Folk Activities & Street Performances: The park features various activities and mini-shows throughout the day, including puppet shows, shadow play, traditional marriage events (embroidered ball throwing), and a Torch Festival.
• Themed Areas: Explore the Celebration Square, Old Handiwork Shops, the Odd Street and Haunted Houses, and the Buddhism Mystery World, which includes a statue of Sakyamuni and a Temple of the God of Wealth.
• High-Tech Experiences: The park utilizes advanced technology for attractions like a dynamic reproduction of the ancient painting "Along the River during the Qingming Festival".

• Opening Hours: 9:00 AM until about 40 minutes after the last "Romance of the Song Dynasty" show ends (usually around 9:00 PM or 10:00 PM).
• Ticket Prices: A standard adult ticket, which typically includes park admission and a seat for the "Romance of the Song Dynasty" show, costs around CNY 300-350 (prices may vary seasonally). Luxury/VIP seats are also available.
• Getting there: It is about a 30-minute taxi ride from the West Lake area. Various public buses (e.g., No. 4, 308, 354) also go directly to the "Songcheng" station.
