The Oriental Pearl Tower is a futurist TV tower in Lujiazui, Shanghai. Built from 1991 to 1994, the tower was the tallest structure in China until the completion of nearby World Financial Center in 2007. Its status as Shanghai's first AAAAA tourist attraction, the tower's unique architecture, height, and fifteen observation decks have made it a cultural icon of the city.

  • Observation Decks: There are multiple observation levels, including a transparent, glass-bottomed corridor at 259 meters (850 feet) and the highest "Space Capsule" at 351 meters (1,152 feet), offering panoramic city views.
  • Revolving Restaurant: Located in the second-largest sphere at 267 meters (876 feet), it offers a buffet with international cuisine and a 360-degree view of the city as it revolves once every two hours.
  • Shanghai History Museum: Located at the tower's base, this museum showcases Shanghai's history from the mid-19th century to the 1940s through dioramas and exhibits.
  • Other Amenities: The tower also houses a hotel (Space Hotel), a VR roller coaster, shops, and a science fantasy world.
Visitor Tips
  • Best Time to Visit: A clear day offers the best visibility of the city skyline. Many visitors recommend visiting in the late afternoon to experience both the daytime and stunning night views of Shanghai.
  • Getting There: The easiest way is to take Metro Line 2 or Line 14 and get off at Lujiazui Station (Exit 1).
  • Food Options: Besides the revolving restaurant, there are other dining options like the Oriental Pearl Coca-Cola Happy Restaurant and Old Shanghai No. 8 Restaurant within the complex.
