HISTORY - RMN VESSEL

HMS LABURNUM
The first SSRNVR ship, HMS Laburnum was inducted on 18 February 1935 and was used as Naval Training Platform. 



HMMS LABURNUM
A Former Japanese Minelayer , Ex- HIJMS Wakataka captured in Surabaya Indonesia at the end of WW 2. 
She entered Service with Malayan Naval Force in 1949. 
in 1965, she was transfered to Singapore and renamed RSS Singapura. 



HMMS PANGLIMA
A second vessel to be so named, the ship was transferred to Malayan Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve (MRNVR) as a replacement for the earliest vessel which was bomb and sunk by the Japanese Navy in 1942. 


HMMS SRI MELAKA
Originally name HMS Pelandok but 2 months later was renamed HMS Malaya. In January 1957, she was still listed as a maintenance repair craft HMMS Sri Melaka. 



HMMS SRI PERLIS
Handover to Malayan Naval Force in June 1949 and was named HMS Pelandok. On 31 August 1958 she was renamed HMMS Sri Perlis. 



HMS TEST
HS Test was loaned to the newly created Malayan Naval Force as a training frigate. 



KD MUTIARA 
KD Mutiara was the first ship officially awarded the title "Kapal Di Raja" (KD) on 20 May 1961. She was also the first ship specifically built for RMN and was also the first locally built vessel. 


KD MAHAMIRU
HMS DARLASTON', on the 3 March 1960, carried out earthquake relief duties (Operation 'Samaritan') with 'HMS TYNE' at Agadir. Two months later she sailed for Singapore and transferred to the Malayan Navy and known as KD Mahamiru.

KD LEDANG
HMS HEXTON, after seven years in the RN, was refitted at Chatham Dockyard during 1963, and sold to Malaya. She was re-commissioned as KD LEDANG.


KD TAHAN
HMS LULLINGTON spent ten years in the RN before being sold to the Malayan Navy in 1966. She was re-named KD TAHAN.

KD BRINCHANG
HMS THANKERTON was refitted in Singapore, in April 1966, and transferred to the Malaysian Navy. She was re-named KD BRINCHANG.

KD JERAI
Ex HMS Dilston - commissioned with RMN in 1964. 

KD KINABALU
Ex HMS Essington - commissioned with RMN in 1964.

1. Ada ke Kapal bernama HMS Pelanduk / Pelandok di Singapura semasa perang dunai kedua?

Just want to clarify some information on regarding the early history of RMN
1. Was there a ship HMS Pelanduk / Pelandok stationed at Singapore during the Japanese invasion WW2
2. If so - What type and what happened to it?

During the Second World War HMS Pelandok was the Royal Navy Training Establishment in Malaya. The first ship presented to SSRNVR (Straits Settlement Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve) which was established on 27 April 1934 was HMS Laburnum, A Minelayer which was a former Japanese ship HIJMS Wakataka. However HMS Laburnum was sunk by the Japanese in 1942.
However I had found out that there is a ship named HMS Pelandok in 1949 but was renamed HMMS Sri Perlis on 31 August 1958... Hopefully someone can clarify this, as what i know HMS Pelandok / KD Pelandok was a Navy Training Establishment until it was replace by KD Sultan Ismail at Tg Pengelih Johor...
