ABOUT SELANGOR

  1. Located at the West Coast of Peninsular Malaysia
  2. Covers an area of 125,000 sq km 
  3. State capital is Shah Alam, while the royal town is Klang. 
  4. The most developed state in Malaysia
  5. The gateway to Malaysia as it is home to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport and the country's largest seaport the Port Klang. Also home to Low Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT) and Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport.
INTERESTING FACT

    1. 1 Utama: Bandar Utama, PJ > a shopping mall with an area of 5,590,000 sq ft and containing 713 stores. It is one of the largest shopping malls in Malaysia and the Seventh-largest shopping mall in the world before IOI Mall in Putrajaya surpassed it in 2022. 
    2. Air Terjun Ampang Pecah : A man- made Reservoir that was originally built in the 18th century for the use of tin miners in the area. Situated along the Selangor River in Kuala Kubu Bharu, which is just a little over an hour's drive from Kuala Lumpur. Currently, there is no public transport that can take you directly to the waterfall. Great place for family outing. 
    3. Air Terjun Kemensah: located at Kg. Kemensah, Hulu Kelang, Selangor > this unique terrain of almost 17 km long with near vertical walls on both side is home to quite a number of waterfalls. 
    4. Ampang Lookout Point: situated in Bukit Ampang, renowned for its breathtaking panoramic views of Kuala Lumpur's skyline.  Perched atop a hill, it offers a stunning vantage point to admire iconic landmarks such as the Petronas Twin Towers and Kuala Lumpur Tower.
    5. Bangi WonderlandBangi Wonderland a "FORTRESS OF WET AND FUN" which is located on 12-acre land at the heart of Bangi Avenue as a hub of development in the Southern Klang Valley, Selangor. The water theme park is the latest tourist attraction for both local and overseas tourists.

Batu Caves : located 15 km north of Kuala Lumpur > founded by William Hornaday an American naturalist in 1878 - one of Malaysia's iconic attraction, its massive limestone outcrop is believed to be 400 million years old. Batu Caves is crowded during the Annual Hindu festival of Thaipusam. Visitors are greeted by a 42.7 m high Golden Statue of the HIndu God, Lord Murugan at the entrance to the cave. 
    7. Broga Hill: 15 minutes drive from Semenyih town in Selangor, Broga Hill is quite well-known for hiking as well as a recreational area for neraby residents. Witness the scenic fiew from the top of the Broga Hill.

    18. Galeri DiRaja Sultan Abdul AzizLocated in Klang, Selangor, the gallery is about the former Selangor Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah. The building was initially constructed as Sultan Sulaeman Building in 1909. Designed by British Architect A.B. Hubback. It was initially opened in 1988 as the Memorial Museum.

    21. Gedung Raja Abdullah: a historic building located in Klang, Selangor. It was built in 1857 and is one of the oldest buildings still standing in Klang. Originally, it was a warehouse for storing tin ore and also the residence of Raja Abdullah. This building played an important role in the history of the tin trade in Selangor and also became a silent witness to the Selangor Civil War.
    22. GM Klang: Located at Bandar Botani, Klang, 25 km from Shah Alam, a wholesale paradise for consumers and business alike. 
    23. Gua Damai Extreme Park: located at Kg. Melayu Wira Damai, Batu Caves, Selangor. A place where you can enjoy trekking, learn about traditional herbs, caving and via obstacle rope management. 
    24. Hatter's Castle: a cottage bungalow that used to be the home of Pulau Carey's plantation Manager back in the 1920s. The bungalow's design is thought to be influenced by Edward Valentine John Carey, founder of the Island, Pulau Carey in Selangor.

    26. Hutan Lipur Bukit Lagong: Selayang, Selangor >  At Bukit Lagong various facilities have been provided by MPS such such as rest shelters, fruit stalls, toilets, two bridges and a changing room facility. About RM 450,000.00 has been spent to provide comfort to the visitors.
    27. Hutan Lipur Sungai Tua: Located on Jalan Lama Hulu Yam, Batu Caves, is a forest reserve and recreational area located within the Selangor State Park, close to Batu Dam. It is famous for its waterfalls and clear rivers and is suitable for activities such as camping, picnicking, and bathing.

    29. Jeram Kubang Gajah: also known as Sofea Jane Waterfall, is a picturesquare natural landmark in Kampung Kemensah, Hulu Kelang Selangor. Named after the local actress Sofea Jane who featured in a film scene shot here in 1995
    30. Kampung Kuantan Firefly ParkLocated at Kampung Kuantan & Bukit Belimbing in Kuala Selangor. Is one of the place in Kuala Selangor where we can witness the sight of millions of fireflies flashing in the middle of mangrove trees. Kuala Selangor is said to be the home of one of the biggest firefly colonies in the world.
    31. Kolam Air Panas Hulu Tamu a natural hot springs pool located next to the transit town of Batang Kali, about an hour’s drive from Kuala Lumpur city center. There are several pools (hot, medium, cool), gazebos, walkways and free parking as well as basic changing rooms and toilet facilities here.
    32. Kota Raja Mahadi: Klang, Selangor > Historical fort used during the Klang wars. The fort's walls are earth so it was cheaper to build by Raja Mahadi in his war against Raja Abdullah. What you see is just the main door. The whole hill had a commanding view of the river back in the day. Today the view looks out of place as it's surrounded by roads and a modern town that rose around it.

    35. Mah Meri Tribe : the indigenouse tribe at Pulau Carey, Selangor > is known to produce some of the world's most evocative wooden masks
    36. Majestic Waterfall Forest Park Kanching : Located in Templer Baiduri, Rawang, Selangor > discover the forest reserve is like a carnival of waterfalls with varying heights and landscapes, crystal-clear water of the Kanching River. 
    37. Makam Sultan Abdul Samad: Located at Jugra, Selangor, the final resting place of the 4th Sultan of Selangor, whom the iconic Sultan Abdul Samad Building in Kuala Lumpur is named. Sultan Abdul Samad ruled Selangor from 1859 - 1898. 
    38. Masjid Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah: the state mosque of Selangor, located at Shah Alam, also referred as the Blue Mosque is one of the largest mosques in Malaysia, can accommodate up to 24,000 worshippers. 
    39. Mines Wellness City: formerly known as Mines Resort City is an integrated Health and Wellness Resort township in Seri Kembangan, Selangor. 
    40. Muzium Insitu Jugra:Situated at the foot of Bukit Jugra, in the historical town of Kuala Langat distrist. The building was constructed in 1878 by British Police Office Capt. Harry Charles Syers, used to be the old district Police Station and prison. It was gazetted by the Department of National Heritage on 19 November 2002.
    41. Muzium Orang Asli: located in Batu 12, Gombak, Selangor > showcases the history and tradition of the indigenous Orang Asli people. It includes a library and a small theater hall, and was opened on 29 September 1987 by Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad.
    42. Muzium Padi Sekinchan : also known as the Galeri Padi Sekinchan, is a rice processing factory that offers an interesting tourist experience. It is not just a museum, but also a factory, gallery, and shop, all in one. Here, visitors can learn about the rice production process, from planting to processing, through exhibitions and guided tours.
    43. Muzium Sultan Alam Shah :showcases some of the most fascinating artefacts in the country. This museum provides a unique insight into the history of Shah Alam and Selangor. 
    44. Nordmann's Greenshark : one of the world's rarest birds had been spotted at Kuala Selangor Nature Park.
    45. Ostrich Wonderland : located around 15 minutes drive from Semenyih town in Selangor, this place is perfect for a family visit. Watch a freely-roaming ostriches in a large pen.
    46. Pantai Bagan Lalang: a coastal beach in Sepang District, Selangor, close to the border with Negeri Sembilan's Port Dickson district. A picturesque coastal destination that starts at the campsites and invites visitors to stroll along its pristine white sandy beach. 
      Pantai Kelanang: a beach located in Banting, Selangor, near Morib Beach. This beach is known for its soft sand, rhu and mangrove trees along the shore, and a tranquil atmosphere. Although not suitable for swimming due to the murky water from the confluence with the Langat River, this beach is suitable for picnics, fishing, and other recreational activities.
    47. Pantai Moriblocated in Banting, Malaysia, is a popular recreational spot known for its historical significance and beautiful scenery. It was one of the first landing points for the British and Indian Army during World War II in 1945. The beach offers a mix of relaxation and activities, including swimming, sunbathing, and exploring the mud flats for crabs and clams.
    48. Pasar Jawa Klang: Pasar Jawa is the only Malay business complex that still exists in Bandar Klang. Located on Jalan Pasar, Klang next to Bandar Klang Mosque (currently under construction).

    50. Perpustakaan Raja Tun Uda: is the Selangor state library which also serves as the headquarters of the Selangor Public Library Corporation (PPAS). It is located in Section 13, Shah Alam, and was a gift from the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, to the people of Selangor in conjunction with "Selangor Maju 2005"
    51. Pulau Carey : Carey Island, located  20 km south of Klang, Selangor > famed for its fresh seafood and the indigenous Mah Meri tribe who are known to produce some of the world's most evocative wooden masks
    52. Raja Tun Uda Library: The largest state library in Selangor, offers a conducive environment for reading and learning. 
    53. Rumah Anak-anak Sidek: refers to the family home of the late Dato' Mohd. Sidek in Kanchong Darat, Kuala Langat. The Selangor State Government intends to make it a national heritage house, a tourism attraction and heritage preservation. This house will remain in the family's possession, like other traditional houses that are preserved as heritage.
    54. Sekinchan Coconut Farm: known for its lush landscapes and fresh coconuts, is a must-visit destination for both locals and tourists.

    68. Taman Eko Rimba Kanching : Rawang, Selangor > The Kanching Eco Forest Park (Taman Eko Rimba Kanching) is located at Rawang and is about 21 km away from Kuala Lumpur. If you are looking for a few hours off your regular routine, head for this tropical rain forest and spend one to three hours here. This forest is a popular spot for a picnic during the weekends. It has seven waterfalls and pools have been built to contain the clean water that falls down from the hills.
    69. Taman Eko Rimba Komanwel : Located Rawang, Selangor, you can ride ATV and camping, jungle walk, ride a bicycle, paddle a boat or even ride an electric scooter. 
    70. Taman Persahabatan Selangor - Jepun: located at the East Lake of Shah Alam, just beside Dataran Shah Alam. It is not just an ordinary park but a serene escape that offers various activities for all ages.
