3 FAMOUS POLTERGEIST CASES THAT WILL CREEP YOU OUT.

Chairs move about by themselves. Walls shake from loud, unexplained banging. Water drips from a ceiling. Hairbrushes disappear for days, only to reappear in their place on the dresser. These are some of the classic symptoms of a poltergeist haunting. From the German for "noisy ghost," a poltergeist refers to phenomena usually credited to mischievous spirits or ghosts and are characterized by psychokinesis or other physical manifestations. Although ghosts may sometimes be involved, most poltergeist incidents are a kind of psychic phenomena, usually centered around a living "agent."

Cases have been cited almost since the beginning of recorded history. Three famous cases have taken place in the 20th century, gaining notoriety, perhaps, because they have been extensively investigated, reported, and in some cases even photographed and videotaped.

The Thorton Health Poltergeist

In the 1970s, in Thornton Heath, England, a family was tormented by poltergeist phenomena that started one August night when they were woken in the middle of the night by a blaring bedside radio that had somehow turned itself on — tuned to a foreign-language station. This was the beginning of a string of events that lasted nearly four years.

A lampshade repeatedly was knocked to the floor by unaided hands. During the Christmas season of 1972, an ornament was hurled across the room, smashing into the husband's forehead. "As he flopped into an armchair," reports Haunted Croydon, "the Christmas tree began to shake violently. Come the New Year and there were footsteps in the bedroom when there was no one there, and one night the couple's son awoke to find a man in old fashioned dress staring threateningly at him. The family's fear grew when, as they entertained friends one night, there was a loud knocking at the front door, the living room door was then flung open and all the house's lights came on."

Having the house blessed failed to rid the house of the phenomena. "Objects flew through the air, loud noises were heard and the family would sometimes hear a noise which suggested some large piece of furniture... had crashed to the floor. When they went to investigate, nothing would be disturbed."

A medium who was consulted told the family that the house was haunted by a farmer of the name Chatterton, who considered the family trespassers on his property. An investigation bore out the fact that Chatterton had indeed lived in the house in the mid-18th century. "Chatterton's wife now joined in causing mayhem, and often the tenant's wife would be followed up the stairs at night by an elderly gray-haired woman wearing a pinafore and with her hair tied back in a bun. If looked at, she would disappear back into the shadows. The family even reported seeing the farmer appear on their television screens, wearing a black jacket with wide, pointed lapels, high-necked shirt, and black cravat."

After the family moved out of the house, the poltergeist activity ceased, and none have been reported by subsequent residents.

The Enfield Poltergeist Case

Another English ghost — this one in Enfield in North London — made headlines in 1977. The strange activity seemed to center around the daughter of Peggy Harper, a divorcee in her mid-40s. Again, it started on an August night. "Late at night," An Urban Ghost Story relates, "Janet, aged 11 and her brother Pete, aged 10, complained that their beds were 'jolting up and down and going all funny.' As soon as Mrs. Harper got to the room, the movements had stopped — as far as she was concerned her kids were making it all up."

But things got progressively more bizarre from there. Shuffling noises and knocks on the wall were followed by a heavy chest of drawers sliding by itself across the floor. Mrs. Harper promptly got her children out of the house and sought the assistance of a neighbor. "The neighbors searched the house and garden but found no one. Soon they also heard the knocks on the walls which continued at spaced out intervals. At 11 p.m. they called the police, who heard the knocks, one officer even saw a chair inexplicably move across the floor, and later signed a written statement to confirm the events."

Several people were witness to the events that occurred in the following days: Lego bricks and marbles were thrown around the house and were often hot to the touch. In September of that year, Maurice Grosse of the Society for Psychical Research came to investigate. "Grosse claims that he experienced the strange happenings — first a marble was thrown at him from an unseen hand, he saw doors open and close by themselves, and claimed to feel a sudden breeze that seemed to move up from his feet to his head."

Grosse was later joined in the investigation by writer Guy Lyon Playfair, and together they studied the case for two years. "The knocking on walls and floors became an almost nightly occurrence, furniture slid across the floor and was thrown down the stairs, drawers were wrenched out of dressing tables. Toys and other objects would fly across the room, bedclothes would be pulled off, water was found in mysterious puddles on the floors, there were outbreaks of fire followed by their inexplicable extinguishing."

The case became decidedly unnerving when the spirits revealed themselves — through Janet. Speaking in a deep, gravely voice, the spirit announced that his name was Bill and had died in the house — a fact that has been verified. The voices and the phenomenon have been recorded on tape and film, and Playfair has written a book about the case called This House is Haunted.

Despite the documentation, however, much controversy surrounds the case. Skeptics claim that the case is nothing more than the work of a very clever and mischievous girl — Janet. The poltergeist activity always stopped when she was watched closely, and when she was taken to a hospital for several days to be tested for physical or mental abnormality, the phenomena ceased in the house. Some researchers believe that Janet taught herself to speak in the strange male voice and that photos of her levitating in her bedroom merely caught her jumping off her bed. Was this poltergeist case just the result of an attention-seeking 11-year-old?

The Danny Poltergeist Case

In 1998, Jane Fishman, a reporter for the Savannah Morning News, began a series of articles about a possibly haunted antique bed in the home of Al Cobb of Savannah, Georgia. Cobb bought the vintage late-1800s bed at an auction as a Christmas present for his 14-year-old son, Jason — a purchase he later regretted.

"Three nights later," Fishman reported, "Jason told his parents he felt as if someone had planted elbows on his pillow and was watching him and breathing cold air down the back of his neck. He felt sick. The next night he noticed the photo of his deceased grandparents on his wicker nightstand flipped down. So he righted it. The next day, the photo was facing down again.

Later that morning, after leaving his room for breakfast, he returned and found in the middle of his bed two Beanie Babies — the zebra and the tiger — next to a conch shell, a dinosaur made of shells and a plaster toucan bird. That got his parents' — and his twin brother, Lee's — attention. Trying to make sense of the irrational, Al called out, 'Do we have a Casper here? Tell me your name and how old you are.' Then he left some lined composition paper and crayons and, with his family, walked out of the room. In 15 minutes they returned and found written vertically in large block childlike letters, 'Danny, 7.'"

With his family out of the house, Al Cobb decided to continue trying to communicate with the spirit of Danny. With the same kind of notes, Danny indicated that his mother had died in that bed in 1899 and that he wanted to stay with the bed. He also made it clear that he didn't want anyone else sleeping in it. "The same day they found a note reading, 'No one sleep in bed,' Jason, who had moved out of the room, decided to stretch out and pretend to take a nap. That, says Al, was a mistake. 'I doubled back in the room to pick up my clothes,' remembers Jason, 'when this terra cotta head that had been hanging on the wall came flying through the room, just missing me before it smashed on the closet door.'"

"No one really knows," Fishman writes in her second installment, "who — or what — is leaving the copious notes, moving the furniture, opening the kitchen drawers, setting the dining room table, flipping over the chairs, lighting the candles, arranging the posters to spell out a person's name, Jill, then hanging the finished product on a bedroom wall. Jason also spoke of other spirits: 'Uncle Sam,' who had come to reclaim his daughter he said was buried under the house; 'Gracie,' a young girl whose sculpture sits in Bonaventure Cemetery; and 'Jill,' a young woman who left a number of handwritten messages, among them one inviting the Cobbs to a party in their living room."

Parapsychologist Andrew Nichols, head of the Florida Society for Parapsychological Research, investigated the case. "What happened at the Cobbs," he told Fishman, "more specifically to Jason — would have happened without 'Danny,' or the bed. It was the electromagnetic energy of the wall — that Jason started sleeping next to when they moved the bed there — that charged a psychic ability that the boy already had.

Prepare to be amazed and bewildered as we uncover the hidden mysteries and eerie synchronicities that lie beneath the surface of everyday life, revealing a world of wonder, astonishment, and endless possibility.

1. The Twin Tragedy

In 2002, two identical twin brothers were killed in separate accidents along the same road in Finland, just two hours apart. The 70-year-old brothers were both riding bicycles when they were struck by trucks. Authorities were astonished to find that the accidents occurred only 1.5 kilometers apart and had no connection to one another, making this a truly eerie coincidence.

2. Mark Twain and Halley’s Comet

The renowned American writer Mark Twain was born on November 30, 1835, the same day Halley’s Comet made its closest approach to Earth. Twain famously predicted that he would “go out with the comet” upon its next return. Remarkably, he died on April 21, 1910, just one day after the comet’s next closest approach, fulfilling his prophetic statement.

3. The Hoover Dam Victims

The construction of the Hoover Dam took place between 1931 and 1936, claiming the lives of 112 workers in various accidents. The first worker to die during construction was J.G. Tierney, who drowned on December 20, 1922. In a chilling twist of fate, the last worker to die during the project was J.G. Tierney’s son, Patrick Tierney, who also died on December 20–13 years later, in 1935.

4. The Unsinkable Connection

Violet Jessop, an ocean liner stewardess, experienced an astonishing series of coincidences when she survived the sinking of three different ships. She was aboard the RMS Olympic when it collided with a warship in 1911, the RMS Titanic when it struck an iceberg and sank in 1912, and the HMHS Britannic when it sank after hitting a mine in 1916. Jessop’s incredible luck earned her the nickname “Miss Unsinkable.”

5. The Separated Twins with Parallel Lives

In one of the most famous cases of separated twins, Jim Lewis and Jim Springer were reunited at the age of 39 after being separated at birth. The similarities in their lives were astonishing: both had been named James by their adoptive families, both had married women named Linda, divorced, and then remarried women named Betty, and both had sons named James Allan and James Alan, respectively. The coincidences didn’t stop there — both had owned dogs named Toy, worked as sheriffs, and even vacationed in the same Florida beach town.

6. The Cab Driver and the Wheelchair

In 2008, a British cab driver named Tom Birchall saved the life of a wheelchair-bound woman who had fallen onto a train track. One year later, Tom was hailed a hero once again when he saved another woman who had fallen onto the tracks — and unbelievably, it was the same woman he had saved previously. This extraordinary coincidence demonstrated Tom’s incredible luck and quick thinking, as well as the power of fate in bringing people together.

7. The King Umberto I Double

In 1900, King Umberto I of Italy visited a restaurant where he was astonished to find that the owner was his exact double. The two men discovered numerous similarities between their lives: they were both born on the same day in the same town, both had married women named Margherita, and both had sons named Vittorio. In a tragic twist, the restaurant owner was killed in a shooting accident on July 29, 1900 — the same day King Umberto I was assassinated by an anarchist.

8. The Bullet and the Grave

In 1914, a French soldier named Henry Ziegland narrowly avoided death when a bullet fired by his ex-girlfriend’s brother grazed his face and lodged in a tree. The brother, believing he had killed Ziegland, took his own life. In 1920, Ziegland decided to remove the tree from his property and used dynamite to do so. The explosion dislodged the bullet, which struck and killed Ziegland in a bizarre, delayed act of fate.

9. The Reincarnation of Maureen Wilcox

In 1980, Maureen Wilcox experienced an extraordinary stroke of luck when she bought tickets for the Massachusetts State Lottery and the Rhode Island State Lottery. Incredibly, she picked the winning numbers for both lotteries. However, her luck took a strange twist when it was discovered that she had mixed up the tickets and entered the winning numbers for Massachusetts in Rhode Island and vice versa, leaving her with no winnings at all.

10. The Swapped Hotel Guests

In 1953, two men named George D. Bryson checked into the Brown Palace Hotel in Denver, Colorado, on the same day, but in separate rooms. Neither man was aware of the other’s existence, and they had never met before. The hotel staff, baffled by the coincidence, mistakenly delivered messages and phone calls intended for one George Bryson to the other, leading to a chance meeting between the two men.

11. The Premonition of Anthony Hopkins

While preparing for his role in the film adaptation of the novel “The Girl from Petrovka,” actor Anthony Hopkins searched London bookshops for a copy of the book, but was unable to find one. In a strange twist of fate, he found a copy of the novel abandoned on a bench in a train station, allowing him to study the story before filming. Later, while discussing the film with the book’s author, George Feifer, Hopkins discovered that the copy he had found was Feifer’s personal annotated copy, which had been lost years before.

12. The Curse of James Dean’s Car

James Dean’s Porsche 550 Spyder, nicknamed “Little Bastard,” was involved in a series of strange accidents and incidents following the actor’s death in a car crash in 1955. The car was involved in several accidents while being transported, causing injuries and even a fatality. Parts from the car were sold and installed in other vehicles, which subsequently experienced fatal accidents. Eventually, the car mysteriously disappeared while being transported, leaving behind a legacy of tragedy and intrigue.

13. The Repeated Encounter

In the early 1900s, a woman named Anne Parrish stumbled upon a book titled “Jack Frost and Other Stories” in a Parisian bookstore. She excitedly told her husband that the book had been a childhood favorite of hers. Upon closer examination, the couple discovered that the book was, in fact, the very same copy Anne had owned as a child, complete with her own inscription inside the cover.

14. The Babushka Lady

The “Babushka Lady” is an unidentified woman who appeared in several photographs and films taken during the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Despite extensive investigations and appeals for information, the woman has never been identified, leading to speculation that she may have been a time traveler or a government agent. The mystery surrounding the Babushka Lady has only deepened over time, making her one of the most enduring enigmas of the 20th century.

15. The Predictive Painting

In 1632, Dutch painter Rembrandt van Rijn completed a portrait of a man named Maurits Huygens, who was wearing a suit and holding a document in his hand. Astonishingly, the document contained the date “12 June 1647” — a date that held no significance at the time of the painting’s completion. However, 15 years later, on June 12, 1647, Maurits Huygens passed away, making the date on the document eerily prophetic and turning the painting into a mysterious and intriguing piece of art.

16. The Writer’s Unintentional Prediction

In 1898, author Morgan Robertson published a novella called “Futility,” which told the story of a fictional ocean liner named the Titan that sank in the North Atlantic after hitting an iceberg. In an astonishing coincidence, the storyline bore a striking resemblance to the real-life tragedy of the RMS Titanic, which sank in 1912. The similarities between the two events, including the size and speed of the ships, the lack of lifeboats, and the location of the disaster, have led to speculation that Robertson’s story was a premonition of the actual event.

17. The Time-Traveling Hipster

In 1941, a photograph was taken during the reopening of the South Fork Bridge in Canada. The photo features a man who appears to be wearing modern clothing and sunglasses, leading to speculation that he was a time traveler. Despite attempts to debunk the theory by attributing the man’s appearance to the fashion of the time, the “time-traveling hipster” remains a popular subject of discussion and debate.

18. The Coincidental Deaths of Presidents

In an eerie coincidence, American Presidents Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy were both assassinated on a Friday, and both were succeeded by men with the last name Johnson. Lincoln was assassinated on April 14, 1865, and Kennedy on November 22, 1963. Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808, while Lyndon B. Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908. The strange parallels between the two events have fueled conspiracy theories and speculation about the nature of fate and coincidence.

19. The Deadly Double

In 2009, a Croatian man named Ivan Lebedev was nearly killed when a stray bullet entered his home and struck him while he was brushing his teeth. Miraculously, the bullet became lodged in his false teeth, saving his life. Astonishingly, just two years later, Lebedev experienced another brush with death when a stray bullet struck him in the same spot — only to be stopped once again by his false teeth.

20. The Lucky Lottery Winners

In 1995, a couple from the UK won the National Lottery jackpot, an incredible stroke of luck that forever changed their lives. However, the couple’s luck took an even more astonishing turn when, in 2005, they won the jackpot once again, defying the odds of 283 billion to one. The couple’s extraordinary good fortune has earned them a place in the history books and raised questions about the nature of luck and probability.

These 20 strange coincidences serve as a reminder of the incredible, sometimes inexplicable events that can occur in our lives. From baffling predictions to eerie parallels between seemingly unrelated incidents, these stories challenge our understanding of the world around us and leave us speechless at the mysteries of fate and coincidence.

THE ROSENHEIM POLTERGEIST

Resources: Paranormal Researchers Ireland

This is a story about a poltergeist in Rosenheim in southern Bavaria in the late 1960s . A German parapsychology by the name Hans Benderforund himself investigating this case. Bender alleged that electrical and physical disturbances in the office of the lawyer Sigmund Adam were caused by the telekinetic powers of 19-year-old secretary Annemarie Schaberl. Bender's investigation has been criticized for omitting key details and avoiding naturalistic explanations
According to Bender, in the Autumn of 1967 he was requested to investigate disturbances in Adam's legal offices which reportedly occurred only on weekends. It was claimed that lighting fixtures exploded, swung back and forth or had their bulbs removed, heavy office furniture was moved, and copier fluid leaked from the office copier. Additionally, the staff denied having made a large number of outgoing calls to a correct time service that were charged to the firm's telephone company account. The electric company reported evidence of malfunctions due to substantial surges in the power system, and Bender alleges that unspecified tests were made by physicists Friedbert Karger and Gerhard Zicha who reported that "some unknown form of energy is at work." Bender claimed that a heavy filing cabinet was reported to have been pushed across the floor by an invisible force, and that a framed painting was captured on film "rotating around its hook." Calling her "a typical poltergeist", Bender believed that the emotional unhappiness of Annemarie Schaberl, a young secretary at the firm, was "converted into psychokinesis." He said that Schaberl told him she was frustrated with her job and distressed over a broken marriage engagement. According to Bender, the alleged poltergeist activity ceased when Schaberl left the lawfirm and married....
Crazy story that I had not heard before. To think the conclusion was a frustrated secretary who didn't like her work ect may be the cause of it ???? Although if true , it would not be funny , I find the end very funny

FOTO KENANGAN - LEMBAH KERAMAT

Oleh Hj Zulheimy Maamor
26 April 2025

Kawasan Padang AU 4 Lembah Keramat dikatakan tempat berlakunya pertempuran The Battle of Bukit Dinding diantara pasukan Yap Ah Loy dan Pasukan Chong Chong/Syed Mashoor.

STESEN MINYAK LEMBAH KERAMAT
Stesen Minyak ESSO yang pernah bertapak di AU 5 Lembah Keramat kini telah digantikan dengan Stesen Minyak Shell, bersebelahan dengan Stesen Minyak Petronas di Lembah Keramat.

MAJLIS PERKAHWINAN

SYED BISTRO / NAAN CORNER

SURAU AT-TAQWA

MEDAN SELERA LEMBAH KERAMAT
