ABOUT PERLIS

  1. The smallest state in Malaysia.
  2. Bordered by Thailand in the north.
  3. Kangar is the state capital, while Arau is the Royal Town. 
  4. Padang Besar is one of the major entry point for visitors from Thailand travelling by a road or train into Peninsular Malaysia.

  1. Bukit Ayer Recreation Park: just a few km north of the Putra Golf Club, 12 km from Kangar.  - visitors can tak in the sights and sounds of a tropical rainforest. 
  2. Bukit Chabang: a limestone hill located in Padang Besar, Perlis, northern Malaysia. It is known as the "Twin Peaks" or "Camel's Peak" because of its unique shape. The hill is surrounded by rubber plantations and rice fields. The view from its peak, especially at sunset, is very beautiful and is a tourist and climber attraction.
  3. Bukit Jernih: Located near the Bukit Keteri Railway Station, is a limestone hill located in Kangar, Perlis, and is one of the geosites in the Perlis Geopark. It is known for its unique limestone formations and beautiful scenery, making it a popular location for recreational activities such as hiking, camping, and caving.
  4. Bukit Keteri: located 10 km from Kangar > A famous karst limestone formation, very popular with rock climbing activities. 
  5. Bukit MerbokBukit Merbok is a hill in Perlis, West Coast and has an elevation of 17 metres. Bukit Merbok is situated nearby to the locality Kampung Kurong Batang, as well as near Kampung Hujong Bukit.
  6. Bukit Tok Dun: located in Ulu Pauh, Perlis, is a hill that is a focus for climbing and mountain biking (MTB) activities. This hill has a height of 325 meters above sea level and is located on the border of Perlis and Kedah. The view from the top of this hill is very interesting and amazing.
  7. Canopy Walk FRIM Mata Ayer: Located in the Mata Ayer Permanent Forest Reserve, Kaki Bukit, Perlis. This canopy walk was built to be a research area for flora and fauna, especially teak trees, and at the same time, it was also used as an ecotourism area.
  8. Emas Kerajang - Duty Free Complex: located at Padang Besar on the Malaysian-Thailand border, this shopping outlet offers a wide selection of duty free items including imported chocolate and liquors.

  10. Gua Kelam Recreational Parklocated in the Wang Mu Forest Reserve, 26 km from Kangar, Perlis, is one of the many caves famous for its cave walks. The name Gua Kelam can be translated to "Cave of Darkness". 
  11. Gunung Perlis: located at Wang Kelian, the 733m-high Gunung Perlis stands tall as the northernmost point of Peninsular Malaysia. The mountain offers outdoor enthusiasts a tranquil setting to enjoy nature at its best. Please register first and engaged the service of a qualified guide at the park's visitor centre.

  13. Hutan Lipur Bukit Kubu: located at Kuala Perlis a recreational place that is often visited by residents in the Kuala Perlis area. The fort covers an area of 183.70 square hectares and was first developed by the Perlis State Government in 1992.
  14. Jambatan Tuanku Syed Putra: is located in Kuala Perlis, Perlis. It is named after the late Tuanku Syed Putra ibni Almarhum Syed Hassan Jamalullail, who was the third Yang di-Pertuan Agong from Perlis and once resided at the Istana Negara which is located at one end of this highway, Jalan Syed Putra. This bridge connects two areas separated by the Perlis River.
  15. Kampung Hujung Tanjung: a village located in Kuala Perlis, Perlis. It is one of the seven small fishing villages in Kampung Warna-Warni Seberang Ramai. This village is known as one of the tourist attractions in Kuala Perlis, known as Kampung Warna-Warni.
  16. Kampung Ujung Bukit: A village located in Perlis. It is famous for its peaceful atmosphere and beautiful views of rice fields. There are several homestay options that offer comfortable accommodation at affordable prices.
  17. Ladang Buluh Madu: Honey bamboo (Gigantochloa albociliata) is a type of bamboo that is popular in Malaysia, mainly because of its sweet and delicious bamboo shoots. Honey bamboo shoots can be eaten raw or cooked and are a good source of nutrients.
  18. Ladang Burung Unta Perlis: located in Padang Besar, Perlis is one of the interesting agro-tourism destinations that is a must-visit if you are in this area. This farm is managed by the Perlis Veterinary Department and is one of the main attractions in the Agro-Tourism Park, Padang Besar.
  19. Ladang Kenaf Chuping : two important crops in Malaysia, especially in Chuping, Perlis. Chuping is known as the largest sugarcane growing area but is now also home to kenaf plantations as an alternative crop. Kenaf, or Hibiscus cannabinus, is a fibrous plant native to Africa and is now grown commercially in Chuping.

  21. Ladang Nipah Kiplialso known as Nipah Kipli Farm, is a unique attraction in Kuala Sanglang, Perlis, Malaysia, focused on the Nipah palm and its products. The farm features a large plantation of over 2,000 Nipah palm trees and offers visitors a relaxing environment with opportunities to enjoy fresh Nipah juice (nira), traditional and modern local cuisine, and explore the farm.
  22. Maneq Hills ATV Adventure Beseri: Located in Bukit Manik, Tasoh, Perlis. There are over 15 obstacles built along the track and they are constantly changing according to the conditions to ensure visitors don't get bored.
  23. Masjid Al-Hussain, Kuala Perlis: a floating mosque that has become an icon of the seaside town of Kuala Perlis. 
  24. Masjid Alwi: named after the Raja of Perlis, Raja Syed Alwi ibni Almarhum Tuan Syed Saffi Jamalullail. The mosque was completed in 1933 and was declared a national heritage in 1988 under the National Heritage Act 2005. 
  25. Masjid Negeri Perlisknown as Masjid Negeri Perlis, is the state and royal mosque of Perlis, located in Arau. It was built in 1972 on the site of the old Arau Mosque and features a modern architectural style with Moorish Revival influences. The mosque is known for its large capacity, accommodating up to 7,000 worshippers.
  26. Muzium Kota Kayang: located at Kuala Perlis, Perlis > opened for visitors in September 2001. This museum displays 400 collections in six galleries, namely the History Gallery, Archaelogical Gallery, Weapons Gallery, Cultural Gallery, Royal Gallery and the Menteri Besar Gallery. 
  27. Nat Pokok Getah: located at an expansive Rubber Plantation at Arau, Perlis - the best flea market in Perlis. The word 'Nat' comes from the Perlis / Kedah slang which means a day market.
  28. Ostrich Farm: located at Kampung Batu 20 on the way to Padang Besar from Kangar. A large flightless native to Africa. 
  29. Padang Besar The Border town of Padang Besar, 35 km from Kangar, where Malaysians and Thailands travel through. It is situated on the border with Songkhla province, Thailand. The town opposite Padang Besar in Thailand is also known as Padang Besar. The town is a popular destination for Malaysians because of the Duty-Free shopping complex.

  36. Perlis State Park, Wang Kelian: situated on the Nakawan Range, the longest continous range of limestone hills in the country on the western border of Perlis. The entrance to the park is at Wang Kelian, about 40 km from Kangar. 
  37. Pulau Batu Layang: a small island located in Kuala Perlis, Perlis. It is known as the only island in Perlis and is famous for its unique rock formations and beautiful sea views. The island is a tourist attraction, especially for nature lovers and those looking for a place to relax and take pictures.
  38. Snake & Reptile Farm: located in Sungai Batu Pahat,about 10 km from Kangar, established by the Institute of Medical Research to aid in research and produce anti-venom.It showcases more than 200 snakes of about 34 species from Malaysia and other part of the world. 
  39. Sungai Batu Pahat Grape Plantation: located 10 km from Kangar, Perlis. Set up by the Department of Agriculture in 2005, the plantation has a climate and terrain suitable for the cultivation of grapes. 
  40. Taman Anggur Perlis: located at Kangar, the vinayards where grapes of the IAC, Black Opal, Loose Perlette, Black Queen and New White Malaga varities are cultivated. 
  41. Taman Awam Bukit Lagia popular recreational area in Kangar, Perlis, Malaysia. It's known for its limestone hill and is a favored spot for activities like hiking, running, birding, and rock climbing.   42. Taman Bunga Kertas Tuanku Lailatul Shahreenlocated in Bandar Kangar, Perlis. This park is built on Laman Cenderawasih, on the edge of Bukit Lagi next to Taman Budaya Negeri.It is given name in conjunction with Raja Puan Muda, Tuanku Lailatul Shareen Akashah. There are paper flowers of various colors with the background of Bukit Cenderawasih. There is also a dome tower.
  43. Taman Rekreasi Pengkalan Asam located in Kampung Pengkalan Asam, Kangar, Perlis next to Sungai Perlis.This Run Trail is often used by locals and the public for recreational activities such as jogging, exercising, sightseeing, reflexology etc.
  44. Taman Rimba Herba: located on 12 hectares of land next to the Bukit Air Recreational Park, Kangar, Perlis.This herb garden has more than 1,000 species of herbs, spices and medicinal plants of both local and foreign origin.
  45. Tasik Melati : just 5 km north of Kangar, Perlis, Tasik Melati is a small but charming lake with more than 150 sandbar island tat are accessible only by small boat. Elevated walkways allow visitors to walk about, taking in the scenery and lotus plants. 
  46. Tasik Timah Tasoh: located within the Perlis State Park, 12 km from Kangar, Perlis, this lake was built as a dam in 1992. It has become a sanctuary for migratory birds, supplying with much needed food and shelter. 
  47. Wang Burma Cave: located within the Perlis State Park, it is one of the most popular cave for spelunking. Permission to enter and service guide are required. 
  48. Wang KelianWang Kelian is a village in Perlis, Malaysia located on the Malaysia-Thailand border. It is a popular border market, however it has lost it popularity following the discovery of mass graves of the victims of human trafficking in the area in 2015. The village across the border is Satun Province in Thailand.
  49. Woodballs: a popular sport in Perlis. Perlis has a strong woodball presence, with the Perlis Woodball Association (PWNPs) actively involved in organizing and participating in local and national competitions. The state is also known for hosting major woodball events, including the World Cup Championship.
