MEMORIES NEVER FADE

 

The famous song by Andy Williams, "Love Story", comes to my mind....

There's no beginning and no ending, only patches of faded memory...

I have had good times and not-so-good ones in sea services....

People said sailors never die; they dive away...we had plenty of memorable times in the Navy...

Someone once asked me when he knew I was a navy veteran...

What is your most memorable moment when you served on board Navy ships travelling the vast ocean...?

For me, for 16 years, it would be hard to tell you the memorable moment...but the best moment, of course, is going places that I would never get a chance to go to on my own...spending a month at sea, sailing to several countries (some more than once)... I've had many, many 'best experiences', which not everyone can feel...so to pick out ONE would be very difficult. ...it was all the best moment...all the most memorable moment...seeing foreign countries without spending a lot of money...

By the way, do you know why NAVY is called NAVY?

The word "NAVY" came via old French "navie", "fleet of ships", from the Latin "navigium", "a vessel, a ship, bark, boat", from "navis", "ship". The word "naval" came from Latin navalis, "pertaining to ship".

SWEET MEMORIES - LIFE AT SEA

Seafarers shared many common experiences...life at sea filled with hardship, facing the daily dangers of sea and weather...

A seaman life was hard and had to be tough to survive...however, it is a great lifestyle if you are suited to it...

This was just my experience; for others it will surely have been different.

Easy, like Sunday morning...

The best memories of our life can never be captured in pictures; they are always captured by heart....

Every adventure grants you a 'book' of stories and memories...

Sometimes, words aren't just enough to describe what you've been through....

We also tell our stories so that others can take their own adventures and go through what we’ve been through ourselves — by then, they will fully understand what we meant.

Sometimes you don't realise how good the good old days were until they're gone...

I ALWAYS MISS THE OLD DAY... THOSE WERE THE DAYS...

As I reminisce about the days gone by, a flood of cherished memories from our times at High School Setapak, K.L. (1974-1978) fills my heart with nostalgia... this is the photo of the last day at school.... Those school years helped us to become who we are today....
