ABOUT PAHANG

  1. The largest state in Peninsular Malaysia.
  2. The state capital is Kuantan, while the Royal Town is Pekan. 
  3. The state claim to Peninsular Malaysia's longest River (Sungai Pahang), highest Peak (Gunung Tahan), largest natural park (Taman Negara) and biggest Natural lake (Tasik Bera).

INTERESTING FACTS:

  1. Agropolitan Runchang : Muadzam Shah > is a specific location within the larger Agropolitan project, which is an initiative focused on poverty eradication through agriculture and related economic activities in the East Coast Economic Region (ECER) of Malaysia.
  2. Al-Habsyi Village : in Kuala Rompin, Pahang, is no longer operational, and its surrounding area is in a dilapidated state, according to K M Cheng-Travel Journal. The village was historically linked to the descendants of Syed Al-Habsyi, who arrived in Pahang between 1803 and 1806. These individuals maintained close ties with the palace, and were followed by other families like the al-Yahya, al-Iderus, and al-Khirid. By the early 1980s, the Pekan Syeds, a group of descendants of the original Syed Al-Habsyi, were well-established.
  3. Bazar Serambi Teruntum : located about 2 km from Kuantan town - one of the new tourist icons that must be visited. It consists of food stalls and stalls sales of traditional products from the state of Pahang. 
  4. Berjaya Hills, Bukit Tinggi: located 56 km from Kuala Lumpur, it is a popular vacation spot.The main draw here are the French-themed Colmar Tropicale Resort, a re-creation of the original 18th century Colmar Village in Alsace, France and the Zen-inspired Japanese village
  5. Boh Tea Plantation : famous tea plantation at Cameron Highlands, Pahang > founded by John Archibald Russell in 1929. 
  6. Bukit Gambang Resort City: located 40 km from Kuantan, the largest integrated leisure destination in Peninsular Malaysia. This award-winning park reatures numerous wave pools, water slides, fun rides,etc. 
  7. Bukit Pelindung : a hill and recreational park located in Kuantan, Pahang. It is also known as the Bukit Pelindung Eco-Forest Park and is a popular place for outdoor activities such as hiking, jogging, and cycling.
  8. Bukit Tinggi PahangLocated 48 km away from Kuala Lumpur via the Karak Highway. It's amongst the newest highlands in Malaysia apart from the well-known Genting Highlands, Cameron Highlands and Fraser's Hill. Bukit Tinggi is well-known for its French-styled Colmar Tropicale and Zen inspires Japanese Garden.
  9. Cameron Highlands in the district of Pahang was founded in 1885 by William Cameron, a British colonial government surveyor accompanies by an aborigine named Kulop Riau. However, it was not fully developed until 1925 that it was proposed by Sir George Maxwell as a hill resort.
  10. Dataran Patin : Patin Square at Temerloh, Pahang > an area famous for its patin dishes. It is a popular place for patin lovers to enjoy a variety of delicious and tasty dishes prepared with patin. Patin, a large river catfish, is a specialty here, especially the fruit patin variety which is said to have a better texture and taste.
  11. Deerland Park PahangLocated not far from Kuala Gandah Elephant Sanctuary and Krau Wild Life Reserve, yet another interesting animal centre open for visit. This privately own 4 hectares deer farm has over 30 Indonesian deer (Cervus timorences), apart from deer, there also sun bear, snakes, monkeys and etc.
  12. Endau-Rompin State Park: about 50 km from Rompin town, this park is Peninsular Malaysia's second largest National Park after Taman Negara, comprising one of the oldest rainforest in the world
  13. FELDA Residence Tekam : formerly knows as Tekam Plantation Resort, nestled within the lush forests of Jerantut on hectares of Plantation land harvesting rubber, cocoa, palm oil, variouslocal fruits and gringing on one of the world's oldest rain forest
  14. First World Hotel : at Genting Highland, Pahang  > the world's largest hotel with 7,351 rooms. 
  15. Fraser Hill Fraser’s Hill is a mountain village in Pahang, Peninsular Malaysia, known for its highland rainforest and extensive birdlife. Several nature paths, including Pine Tree Trail and Bishop Trail, cross jungle terrain sheltering migratory birds like the Siberian thrush. The area also harbors Malayan tigers and rare trig oak trees. Near the village is the Jeriau Waterfall. Paddle boats traverse calm Allan’s Water Lake.
  16. Galeri Mat Kilau :located in the Jerantut district, Pahang, is a gallery that showcases the history of the struggle of Mat Kilau and other Malay warriors in Pahang in the late 19th century. The gallery is open daily from 9 am to 6 pm, with a minimal entrance fee.
  17. Galeri Pengangkutan Air Pekan: The Pekan Watercraft Gallery > a museum in Pekan, Pahang, that showcases the history of water transport in the region. It displays various types of watercraft, including life-size replicas, that were historically used on the Pahang River and in the surrounding seas. The gallery is located on Pulau Beram, in front of the Sultan Abu Bakar Museum.
  18. Galeri Tokoh & 3D Maran: All the figures immortalized in this gallery have contributed not only to the State of Pahang but also at the National and Malaysian levels.
  19. Genting Highlands: a Hill Station located on the peak of Mount Ulu Kali,Pahang. It was established in 1965 by the late Malaysian Businessman Lim Goh Tong
  20. Genting International Convention Centre: located at Genting Highlands, the Grand-Ballroom is Malaysia's largest column -free hall - perfect for hosting up to 3.500 participants confortably theatre-style.  
  21. Gua Besar HantuLocated on the border of Negeri Sembilan and Pahang, as high as 1,462 meters (4,797 feet). During the Emergency, the communists are believed to have used the 'rat route' at the foot of the mountain to infiltrate Negeri Sembilan and Pahang.
  22. Gua Kota Gelanggi: Believe to be 150 million years old, legend has it that the caves are atually the ruins of an ancient city of Kota Gelanggi, located 24 km east of Jerantut and 12 km from the FELDA Residence Tekam Resort. 
  23. Gunung Senyum: located 68 km from the town of Temerloh, Pahang > Gunung Senyum is an important archaelogical site as its caves are estimated to be more than 300 million years old
  24. Gunung Tahan : the highest point in Peninsular Malaysia with an elevation of 7,175 ft above sea level, on the border between the states of Pahang and Kelantan, with the peak lying on the Pahangite side.
  25. Hutan Lipur Lata Jarum: situated near the sleepy town of Ulu Dong, Rabu, Pahang > with ist scenic, cascading waterfalls and refreshing environment, a great place for a picnic or outing with friends and families. 
  26. Institut Biodiversity: Located at Lanchang, Pahang. Institut Biodiversiti is the training centre for staff of Wildlife Department. It also conduct Biodiversity Education Program (PPBD) for school students, Universities and colleges.Malaysia is recognised as one of the 17 richest biodiversity in the world or Megadverse country.
  27. Janda Baika village in Bentong District, Pahang, Malaysia. It is about 45 km from Kuala Lumpur and 800 m above sea level. It was estimated to have a population of around 2,820 in 2019. Janda Baik was first settled by three Bentong villagers in 1930 who moved when the town was flooded in 1926.
  28. Jeram Besu, Benta: located 130 km from Kuala Lumpur, a haven for whitewater rafting enshusiasts. Other activities include jungle-trekking, camping, abseilling, flying fox, fishing and paintball.  
  29. Kampung Janda BaikLocated at Bentong, Pahang, 45 km from Kuala Lumpur is a simple traditional village up to 1000 populations. Although Janda Baik is a small village, it's used to having visitors all year round, hence getting an accommodation is pretty easy, there are many chalet and guesthouse suited for all budget range. Alternatively you can opt for homestay option to learn and experience the local living life style, e.g. Sailor's Nest Homestay.
  30. Kuala Gandah Elephant Conservation Centre: Located in Temerloh, Pahang within the Krau Wildlife Reserve. The centre was established in 1989 by the Malaysian Department of Wildlife and National Parks. Since 1974, the centre has been rescuing problem Asian elephants whose habitats are being lost to cultivation or development. 
  31. Kubang Gajah Waterpark : Temerloh, Pahang > The waterpark is also surrounded by plenty of eataries, and located just alongside the Pahang River. You can also find the public park Taman Tasik Temerloh not too far away.
  32. Lata Meraung Waterfall : Jerantut > Natural waterfall and pools, not big but scenic, because the water flows down  the rocks in several streams, There is a nice pool, perfect for swimming.

  34. Masjid Lama 1888The mosque built in 1888 in Kuala Lipis, Malaysia, is the former State Mosque, also known as Masjid Negeri or Masjid Sultan Mahmud. It was built by an Arab Yemen trader named Habib Hassan and was the state mosque when Kuala Lipis was the capital of Pahang. The mosque is located near the town center and the Jelai River.
  35. Masjid Sultan Ahmad 1 : Kuantan > the State Mosque of Pahang, is a prominent landmark in Kuantan, Malaysia. It's the premier mosque in the city and is named after the first ruler of Pahang. The mosque features a large dome and four minarets inspired by Ottoman architecture. It was officially launched in October 1994.
  36. Menara Kuantan 188 : Kuantan 188 is the tallest iconic tower on the East Coast and the second tallest in Malaysia. It is part of the Kuantan Waterfront project which is located in the Laman Teruntum compound where it allows visitors to enjoy the overall view of Kuantan City from 92.0 meters to 104.0 meters as well as panoramic views of the Kuantan River.
  37. Muzium Masjid Sultan Abdullah : located in Pekan, Pahang, Malaysia, is a former mosque that has been transformed into a museum dedicated to Islamic art and history. Originally built in the 1930s, it was restored and reopened as a museum in October 2016. The museum features exhibits on Islamic culture, religion, and history, including artifacts, musical instruments, calligraphy, and scientific instruments.
  38. Muzium Sultan Abu Bakar: Pekan, Pahang > It showcases the native people relics found in the country and a valuable antique pieces such as large quantity of glassware and ceramics from ancient China. 
  39. Muzium Warisan Lipis : Lipis Heritage Museum, is a cultural museum in Kuala Lipis, Pahang, Malaysia, dedicated to preserving and showcasing the history and heritage of the region. It's housed in a colonial-era building and offers exhibits on Kuala Lipis's past, including its role in the tin mining industry, traditional Malay culture, and colonial influence. The museum also highlights the lives of various ethnic communities in the area and their traditions.
  40. Natural Batik Village: Kuantan > a must-visit destination in Kuantan for anyone interested in Malaysian culture and traditional arts. Batik is a local garments made from silk and embellished with floral motifs. 
  41. Pahang Traditional Weaving : known as Tenun Pahang Diraja, is a unique handwoven fabric with a rich history and cultural significance, particularly associated with the Pahang royal family. It's characterized by intricate patterns and weaving techniques, often using silk or cotton, and is traditionally used for sarongs, scarves, and sampin, but is now also incorporated into modern fashion.
  42. Pantai Balok  :A famous beach in Kuantan, Pahang, located about 8 kilometers north of the city center. This beach is famous for its beautiful scenery, wide and sloping sand, and is suitable for various recreational activities such as swimming, sunbathing, and water sports such as windsurfing and kitesurfing.
  43. Pantai Cherating: located in Pahang, about 30 km north of Kuantan in east coast Peninsular Malaysia, about 3 hours drive from Kuala Lumpur. It is among the most famous beach in Malaysia. 
  44. Pantai Lanjut: located in Kuala Rompin, 85 km from Pekan, Pahang. The area boasts several resorts, one of which has an 18-hole golf course. It is perhaps most famous for its river and deep-sea fishing activities. 
  45. Pantai Pelindung : Pantai Pelindung is a beach located in Kuantan, Pahang, specifically in the Beserah area. It is known as a quiet and less crowded location, suitable for relaxing activities and enjoying the beauty of nature. This beach is also a turtle landing location during certain seasons and offers beautiful sunrise views.
  46. Pekan Riverfront : a public park located in Pekan, Pahang, on the banks of the Pahang River. It is a popular place to relax, have a picnic, and enjoy the river views. The park is also close to the Sultan Abu Bakar Museum and offers a calm and relaxing atmosphere.
  47. Petrosains PlaySmart: Tanah Putih, Kuantan > an enlightening destinaton that captivates visitors with its interactive science exhibits and engaging activities. 
  48. Pulau Chekas :  a recreation center in Hulu Dong, Raub, Pahang, Malaysia, known for its unique island formed by a river branching into two paths. Suitable for family activities like camping and swimming. A popular spot for those seeking a refreshing escape from city life. 
  49. Pulau Tioman : lies off the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia (Pahang), in the South China Sea. It is a duty-free island and one of Southeast Asia's most beautiful travel destination. 
  50. Sungai Lembing Museumwas established to commemorate the heyday of Sungai Lembing as the richest town in the state of Pahang, producing major tin ore. Once upon a time, this town was like the EL-Dorado of the East in Malaya because it was home to a special English officer's village in the Kenau River Valley. However, since 1984 all that luxury has disappeared due to the fall in tin prices. The uniqueness of this museum is that it is housed in a building that was once the residence of the mine officer himself, which still retains the architectural features of the British era.
  51. Sungai Pahang : Pahang > the longest river in Peninsula Malaysia (475 km).
  52. Sungai Pandan Waterfall: Kuantan > located 25 km from Kuantan town at FELDA Panching Selatan. Surrounded by verdant tropical rainforest, the waterfall cascades from 250 m above the three levels of cliff and finally splashes into an enormos, emerald hued pool. It provides ample facilities for a picnic by the river or a barbeque at the gazebos.
  53. Taman Esplanade :  is a popular riverside park in Kuantan, Pahang, Malaysia, offering a serene escape with recreational opportunities.   55. Taman Negara : The National Park at Pahang > the oldest Natural Rainforest in the world, older than the Amazon Rainforest, it has more than 10,000 species of Plants. Initially called King George V National Park before Malaysian independence in 1957. 
  56. Taman Rekreasi Che Minah Sayang: Jerantut > It's more than just a park, it's a vibrant hub for families, friends and solo adventures looking to reconnect with the serence outdoors. 
  57. Taman Rimba Kenong : Kenong Rimba Park is located at the fringe of Taman Negara on its eastern and northern boundaries. Kenong Rimba Park is home to pockets of limestone caves, which have become the destination of splunking enthusiasts. The crystal clear waters that flow through the park and high cascading waterfalls are exotic backdrops to a large array of flora and fauna.

  59. Taman Tasik Sultan Abu BakarSultan Abu Bakar Lake Garden is not a single, named location. It is a combination of the Sultan Abu Bakar State Mosque and the surrounding gardens, both of which are significant landmarks in Johor Bahru. The mosque itself is known for its beautiful architecture, blending Victorian and Moorish styles, and the gardens offer a peaceful escape.
  60. Tanjung Lumpur : a traditional fishing village located in Kuantan, Pahang, Malaysia. It is famous for its delicious seafood and Thai dishes, especially grilled fish. The village was also one of the earliest areas opened by the Malays in Kuantan.
  61. Tasik Bera: Located 32 km from Jerantut, Pahang > the largest natural fresh water lake in Malaysia and also the country's first Ramsar Heritage site. This protected wetland sanctuary is home to the Semalai indigenous people and some of the country's most exotic flora and fauna.
  62. Tasik Chini : a lake in Pekan District, Pahang, Malaysia. The lake shores are inhabited by the Jakun branch of the Orang Asli, indigenous ethnic groups of Malaysia. The 12,565-acre Tasik Chini is the second largest fresh water lake in Peninsular Malaysia and is made up of a series of 12 lakes. 
  63. Teluk Cempedak: also known as Palm Beach, located 5 km east from the town centre in Kuantan. The white sandy beachand casuarinas and pine trees line the coast. The fishing village of Beserah is about 5 km away. 
  64. Teruntum Mini Zoo : Kuantan > Small zoo with a modest selection of animals, including monkeys, ostriches & crocodiles, just behind the Teluk Chempedak beaches overlooking the Royal Pahang Golf Club.
