MY TRAVEL: RAWANG, SELANGOR

Rawang was founded in the early 19th century and was one of Kuala Lumpur's earliest satellite towns.
The earliest estimates of Rawang's founding date back to 1825; it was the second area in Selangor to be explored for tin mining.
In 1894, the first electric generator in British Malaya was installed in Rawang to support the mining industry, making Rawang the first location to be electrified in Malaysia.

COMMUNITY PROGRAM
DEWAN BCH, BANDAR COUNTRY HOMES
RAWANG, SELANGOR
4 - 5 AUGUST 2012
While Muslims are fasting, the Malaysian Heart Foundation continues to carry out its health activities, and this time it is at the BCHRA Hall in Bandar Country Homes, Rawang, Selangor. This programme is jointly organised by YJM and the Lions Club of Rawang. A total of 202 residents around Bandar Country Homes, Rawang, have attended the health screening test, which was held from 4 to 5 August 2012. Among those who attended the health test are my sister and her son.

Bandar Country Homes is an integrated development area located about 10 km from the town of Rawang. Previously known as Taman Desa, it is situated adjacent to Saujana Rawang, Emerald West, Taman Desa Mas and Taman Bayu Permai. It is suitable for those who want to escape the busy city life and be at ease in a calm environment.

My sister and her son, who live in Bandar Tasik Puteri in Rawang, also attended for a health check-up.

MASJID AS-SALAM
A prominent local community mosque located in the township of Bukit Sentosa in Rawang, Selangor. It was widely known by locals as the "Yellow Mosque" due to the distinctive yellow colouring of its dome and minaret.
It first opened for prayers on September 25, 2004.

Masjid Cahaya Iman
Located at Bandar Country Homes, Rawang, Selangor. The mosque was officially completed and inaugurated on December 7, 2007 by the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.
My colleagues and I once performed Friday prayers at this mosque while on our way to the North.

MASJID AL-ISLAHIAH
A prominent local community mosque in the Kuang area of Rawang, Selangor. The wedding ceremony for my wife’s nephew took place at this mosque.

Rawang holds a special place in my heart, not just for its rich history and vibrant community, but also because it’s where my sister and two of my nephews call home. Each visit is a delightful journey filled with family gatherings, laughter, and the warmth of familiar faces.

The charm of Rawang extends beyond its scenic landscapes and historical significance; it’s the connections and memories made here that truly resonate with me. From exploring local markets to enjoying the serene parks, every moment spent in Rawang is a reminder of the bonds that tie us together.

Whether it's sharing meals or simply catching up, Rawang is more than just a location; it’s a tapestry of family love and cherished experiences.
