GREAT EASTERN COLOUR MY HEART RUN 2015 (PULAU PINANG)

The Great Eastern Colour My Heart Run held on 19 April 2015 was the Penang leg of a unique two-city event in Malaysia. It was a collaboration between Great Eastern Life and the Heart Foundation of Malaysia (Yayasan Jantung Malaysia) to promote heart health through a fun, active lifestyle.

Here are the key details of that specific event:

Event Overview
  • Date: Sunday, 19 April 2015
  • Location: Padang Kota Lama (Esplanade), George Town, Penang.
  • Flag-off Time: 8:00 AM.
  • Distance: 5km Fun Run (non-competitive).
Key Highlights
  • The Experience: Over 2,500 participants took part in Penang. The "fun run" format replaced traditional timing with "Colour Fun" stations. As runners passed through these stations, they were showered with different coloured powders while various genres of music played.
  • Community & Family: The event was designed to be inclusive, featuring families with participants ranging from young children to grandparents.
  • The Cause: A portion of the registration fee (RM5 per person) was donated to the Heart Foundation of Malaysia. The event aimed to raise awareness about heart disease and stroke, which are leading causes of death in Malaysia.

Post-Run Carnival: At the finish line, there was a carnival featuring:
  • Free medical check-ups.
  • Live performances (including Penang musical starlet Chelsia Ng).
  • Interactive games like the Gladiator Dome and rock climbing.

Related Events
While Penang hosted the 5km run on April 19, a second leg was held in Kuala Lumpur on 24 May 2015 at Dataran Merdeka, which included both the 5km fun run and a more competitive 12km timed race.
