ABOUT KELANTAN

  1. Bordered by Thailand to the North, home to some of the most ancient archaelogical discoveries in Malaysia. 
  2. Acknowledged as "Cradle of Malay Culture" , Kelantan is a veritable showcase of traditional Malay Custom and art forms. 
  3. During World War II, Kelantan was the first place to be invaded by the Japanese forces in Southeast Asia. 
  4. Also known as "Serambi Mekkah" or "Gateway to Mecca" as Islamic scholars come here to prepare for further studies in the Middle East. 
  5. Kota Bharu is the Capital state.

  1. Bank Kerapu War Museum: Kota Bharu,Kelantan > built by Mercantile Bank in 1911 and was used by the Japanese army during WW2. 
  2. Bazaar Buluh Kubu :a famous shopping mall in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, located next to Pasar Besar Siti Khadijah. It offers a variety of goods such as batik, songket, handicrafts, souvenirs, clothes, and fabrics. The bazaar has four floors, including a car park on the ground floor.
  3. Bazaar Tok Guru: a famous shopping mall in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, named after the eminent scholar and former Menteri Besar of Kelantan, the late Tuan Guru Dato' Bentera Setia Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat. The bazaar is located in the city centre of Kota Bharu and offers a wide selection of goods, especially clothing, for retail and wholesale sales.
  4. Bukit Bunga : a village in Tanah Merah, Kelantan. It is located at the Malaysia-Thailand border, the latest border crossing between Malaysia and Thailand, with the opening of the Bukit Bunga Ban Buketa Bridge on 17 December, 2007. 
  5. Bukit Panau : Try this 2.1-km out-and-back trail near Pasir Mas, Kelantan. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 1 h 5 min to complete. This trail is great for hiking, and it's unlikely you'll encounter many other people while exploring. The best times to visit this trail are November through November.
  6. Cottage Industries and Crafts : Kota Bharu, Kelantan, is known for its vibrant cottage industries and traditional crafts, including batik, songket weaving, and silverwork. These crafts are not only a significant part of the local culture but also contribute to the livelihoods of many artisans. Visitors to Kota Bharu can experience these crafts firsthand at the Handicraft Village and Craft Museum, where they can witness demonstrations and even participate in workshops. 
  7. Dragon Boat Temple @ Wat Mai Suvankhiri: Located at Tumpat, Kelantan. Official name of this temple is Wat Mai Suwankhiri, spread over an area of four hectares, this breathtakingly beautiful complex consists of two temples. The main temple houses a replica of a dragon that is about 45m in length.
  8. Gelanggang Seni:located outside Kota Bharu> the best place in Kelantan to sample a taste of the rich cultural heritage of the state. 
  9. Gua Ikan, Gua Batu Susun & Gua Keris: these 3 caves can be accessed via long-tailed boats along the Galas River. One daycaving adventures involve a two-hour boat ride from Kuala Krai to Dabong before proceeding to the caves. Kuala Krai is about 70 km from Kota Bharu. 
  10. Gunung Stong: features several prominent mountain peaks and of the highest waterfalls in Malaysia. Entrance to the park is the quaint village of Dabong about 155 km from Kota Bharu, Kelantan.
  11. Istana Balai Besar : Kota Bharu > built by Sultan Muhammad in 1840, the official residence of the past sultans. It is now used for official state functions and is not open to public.
  12. Istana Bukit Tanah : a palace located in Tumpat, Kelantan. It is believed to have been built around 1910, during the reign of Sultan Ismail ibni Sultan Muhammad IV, and is used as a transit palace until now. This palace is the only palace found in Tumpat Colony and is part of Kelantan's cultural heritage.
  13. Istana Jahar: built in 1855, today the palace houses the Museum of Royal Tradition and Customs of Kelantan, located at Kota Bharu, Kelantan. 
  14. Jambatan Guillemard : The Guillemard Bridge, built in 1920,  is a single track railway truss bridge located in Kusial, Tanah Merah District, Kelantan, Malaysia. It is the second-oldest railway bridge in the country after Victoria Bridge in Perak, although unlike Victoria Bridge, this bridge is still in use today.
  15. Jeram Mengaji :also known as Jeram Mak Nenek, is an ecological tourism destination in Pasir Puteh, Kelantan, which offers the beauty of waterfalls and clear rivers. It is located about 6 km from Selising Town and 22 km from Pasir Puteh City. Apart from enjoying the beauty of nature, visitors can also do adventurous activities such as flying fox and ATV.
  16. Kampung Kraftangan & Muzium Kraft: located at Kota Bharu > also known as "Balai Getam Guri," is a cultural center showcasing Kelantan's traditional crafts. It's located in the heart of Kota Bharu's cultural district and features demonstrations of various crafts like batik, songket weaving, and wood carving. Visitors can also purchase handcrafted items at the museum.
  17. Kota Sultan Ismail Petra : located at Kota Bharu > it was erected to commemorate the declaration of Kota Bharu as a culturan town showcasing Malay culture. 
  18. Kuala Koh National Park: situated about 185 km from Kota Bharu it is 24% part of Taman Negara that spread over the 3 states namely Pahang, Kelantan and Terengganu. 
  19. Kuala Pak Amat Beach: located in Pengkalan Chepa, Kota Bharu, Kelantan > is the site of the first historic battle in Malaya between British and Japanese forces on 8 December 1941, just an hour before the famous attack on Pearl Harbour.  
  20. Lata Hujan: located at Tanah Merah,Kelantan > the water at Lata Hujan Waterfall is known for its clafity and coolness, making it incredibly inviting for swimming and water play. 
  21. Lata Keding Lata Keding boasts numerous unique geological features encompassing diverse geological structures. The area is in the Jeli District of Kelantan and straddles the border of Kelantan and Perak. The topography ranges from a height of 480 meters to a low of 40 meters. This research was focused on the geoheritage value of Lata Keding and explored its potential for geotourism.
  22. Lata Turbo : a waterfall and recreational area located in Jeli, Kelantan, Malaysia. It's known for its clear, cool water and is popular for swimming, picnicking, and photography. The area is considered a geotourism destination due to its geological features and natural beauty.

  24. Makam Tok Janggutlocated in Pasir Pekan Hilir, Tumpat, Kelantan, is a memorial dedicated to Tok Janggut, a Malay warrior who resisted British colonial rule in Kelantan. He is known for leading a rebellion against British administration and taxation policies in 1915.
  25. Masjid Al-Ismaili :  a prominent mosque located in Wakaf Bharu, a suburb of Kota Bharu in Kelantan, Malaysia. It was built as a dedication from Sultan Muhammad V to his father, Sultan Ismail Petra. The mosque is known for its unique architectural design and its symbolic representation of Islamic faith.
  26. Masjid Al - Muhammadi: at Kota Bharu, Kelantan,built originally of wood in 1867, named after Sultan Muhammad IV, it is also known as a center for spreading Islamic teaching in Kelantan. 
  27. Masjid Al-Sultan Ismail Petra : refers to two different mosques in Kelantan, Malaysia, both named after the same Sultan: Masjid Jamek Al-Sultan Ismail Petra in Kubang Kerian, Kota Bharu, and Masjid Jamek Jubli Perak Sultan Ismail Petra in Rantau Panjang. The Kubang Kerian mosque is known for its traditional Malay architecture and is located near Istana Mahkota and Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia (HUSM). The Rantau Panjang mosque is notable for its Chinese architectural style, resembling the Niujie Mosque in Beijing.
  28. Masjid Ar-Rahman: Kg. Pulau Gajah, Kota Bharu > has become a new tourist attracton due to its unique architecture and strategic location. Built in 2016 can accommodate 1,000 worshippers. 
  29. Masjid Kampung Laut : The oldest mosque in Malaysia, located at Kampung Laut, Tumpat, Kelantan. It is estimated to be built sometime in the 15th century or 18th century.
  30. Masjid Langgar : also known as Masjid D'Raja Long Yunus Langgar, is a historical mosque located in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, Malaysia. It was built in 1871 during the reign of Sultan Long Senik Mulut Merah (Sultan Muhammad II). The mosque is situated next to the Langgar Royal Mausoleum, where many members of the Kelantan royal family are buried.
  31. Masjid Tengku Razaleigh: started construction in late 2016, Tengku Razaleigh Mosque which resembles the model of the Grand Mosque in Mekkah. Located at Gua Musang, Kelantan.  
  32. Menara Tambatan Di Raja: Also known as Menara Tinjau, the observation tower on Padang Merdeka, Kota Bharu, Kelantan. It offers a 360 degree of visibility bird's eye view of Kota Bharu and the long stretch of Kelantan River. 
  33. Min House Camp : a unique accommodation and activity center located in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, Malaysia, approximately 6 kilometers from the city center. It's known for its village-style setting, offering a peaceful and relaxing experience surrounded by nature.   34. Muzium Di Raja (Istana Batu): The Royal Museum was built in 1939 under the reign of Sultan Ismail I. The palace was donated to Kelantan State Government and was converted to Royal Museum on 25 July 1991. 
  35. Muzium Islam : Kota Bharu > located across the Bank Kerapu, a place where you can trace the root of Islam in Kelantan. 
  36. Muzium Kraftangan & Kampung Kraftangan : Located on Jalan Merbau, Kota Bharu, Kelantan. Built on 9 March 1991 and officiated by DYMM Raja Perempuan Kelantan on 17 July 1991. Among the exhibits are various types of batik fabrics as well as songket fabrics and embroidery.
  37. Muzium Negeri KelantanThe former building of Kota Bharu Municipal Council. In 1988, the building interior was renovated by adding an extra half story and rooms for the museum exhibition. It was finally opened on 6 August 1990 by the Sultan of Kelantan.
  38. Muzium Wau: The Wau or traditional kite museum at Pantai Sri Tujuh, 26 km from Kota Bharu, Kelantan, is a complete showcase of kite culture. 
  39. Padang Merdeka: located near Istana Jahar, Muhammad Mosque, Islamic Museum and also the Second World War Memorial / Kerapu Bank at Kota Bharu, Kelantan. There is a jog trail, malay traditional house and statue. 
  40. Pantai Cahaya Bulan: Just 10 km from Kota Bharu, Kelantan > formerly known as Pantai Cinta Berahi, believe to name by a lovelorn British soldier during World War II. A popular spot for family outings and picnics.
  41. Pantai Irama Kelantan:The Beach of Melody in Bachok, Kelantan, about 25 km from Kota Bharu knows to be the most beautiful beach in Kelantan. 
  42. Pantai Kuala Pak Amat : historical site in Kota Bharu, Kelantan. It's notably where the Japanese Forces first landed in Malaya during the World War II on 8 December 1941, preceding the attach of Pearl Harbor on 7 December 1941.

Some people called this Pantai Senok as Malaysia's version "Nami Island" which is located in Korea.

Pantai Sri Tujohthe northernmost beach on the East Coast of the Malaysian Peninsular, stretching for a distance of about 7 km from Tumpat up to the mouth of the Golok River which marks the border with Thailand.   50. Pasar Siti Khadijah: The popular market at Kota Bharu, Kelantan > named after Prophet Muhammad's entrepreneurial wife , Siti Khadijah r.a., uniquely run by mostly women
  51. Pasar Terapung Pulau Suri : the first-ever Malaysia floating market, offers a distinct character which attracts domestic and international visitors. Opened on 17 September 2016, the concept of this floating market is a replica of the Hatyai Klong Hae Floating Market in Songkhla, Thailand
  52. Pasar Terapung Pengkalan Datu : A floating market located in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, where traders use boats to sell various local foods and products. It is a unique and popular tourist attraction in Kelantan, especially on Saturdays.
  53. Pengkalan Kubor Duty-Free ZoneA small coastal border town in Tumpat District of Kelantan, bordering Tak Bai, Narathiwat, Thailand across the estuary of the Golok River. Along with Rantau Panjang to its southwest, Pengkalan Kubor is a popular place for duty-free shopping.

  62. Taman Indera Petra : located at Bandar Kota Bharu > a picturesque garden in Kota Bharu, perfect for relaxation, picnics, and enjoying nature's beauty.
  63. Taman Negara Kelantan: sprawling over 1,013 sg km, the National Park in Kuala Koh, Kelantan makes up 24% of the total park area. Situated about 185 km from Kota Bharu.  
  64. Taman Perbandaran Tengku Anis : also known as Taman Tengku Anis, is a public recreational park located in Kota Bharu, Kelantan. This park is a large green area and is popular among locals for various recreational activities such as walking, jogging, yoga, and other sports. In addition, this park is also a place for family activities such as picnics and relaxing.

  68. Wat Machimmaram: located in Tumpat, Kelantan > houses a large Seated Buddha that is 30m high and 18m wide, reputedly the largest Seated Buddha in Southeast Asia.
  69. Wat Photivihan : A Thai Buddhist temple in the town of Tumpat, Kelantan, approximately 5 km from Kota Bharu. It houses the largest reclining statue of Buddha in Malaysia. This 40m statue was constructed in 1973 with donation from various Buddhist Association in Malaysia and Thailand.
