STRAITS OF MALACCA

RESOURCE: SUNGAI BATU 788 BC: THE GREAT KINGDOM OF KEDAH TUA

Another important points that might mislead the public is about the roles of Straits of Malacca. In recent talk at WTC, which I gave a commentary as below.
A scholar claimed that Straits of Malacca was not being used in 1st century AD or earlier. But according to Fukami (2010), Pulau Pisang or Pizong in Chinese was recorded in Hanshu during Emperor Wudi (lived 156 - 87 BC) and the record of was made after 111 BC.
Pulau Pisang located at Straits of Malacca in Johor territory of Pontian. Another Pulau Pisang is at west coast of South Sumatera that facing Indian Ocean. This location is too far from regular maritime route.
Another record wrote between year 1-5 AD (1st century AD), China sent emissaries to King of Hiangzhu and stated that they reached Pizong (Pulau Pisang).
Fukami and other researchers agreed that Pizong is Pulau Pisang in Johor and until now it has an important function for Straits Malacca traffic.
Meaning, both account presented by Fukami as the evidence that Straits of Malacca had been an important routes since BC years.
Ok now, let me bring to another points as evidence of bigger paradigm.

Chinese Dynasty seagoing vessel *never been to Nusantara (*amended phrase) until year 1019 AD !! according to Wain (2015). (Manguin and Derek Heng also have similar finding).
In that case how Chinese delegation or emissaries could reach Straits of Malacca?
There are two possibilities, first, they are onboard of Kunlun trading vessel and another possibilities is that they were onboard vessel that came from Indian Ocean country who trafe with China !! Chinese used to charter the whole or partially of the trading vessel. If the second possibility is right, then it is clear as sunny day that Straits of Malacca was a maritime route since BC years that directly support the idea of influence from Phoenician, Sabaean and Mesopotamia that been written by past scholars as well as Hamito semitic language. How could those vessel brought Chinese delegation passing thru Pulau Pisang if they never cruise along the Straits of Malacca ?
Therefore, we can assume where was their harbouring port for those vessel that come from south or ftom Andaman Sea, it is no other than Kedah Bay. LIDAR and satelite image has shown how enormous and strategic the Kedah Bay during 1st AD century, and it supposedly similar during 2nd or 3rd BC century.
We should be careful when throwing some ideas to the public, particularly when we as a nation in the process of revisiting our past history as to re establish our past narrative. If not the nation, at least, there are growing enthusiasts are keen to know more about our ancient history, particularly when we know that we were involved in iron smelting since 788 BC.

In regards of Sungai Batu dating 788 BC, recently at WTC, a scholar claimed, the deeper the dig, the older the dating supposedly. And he added that the artefact that located next to each other, should be at the same age. Practically and reality, it is not necessary to be like that.
The simple explaination is as this ; let say you come to an open area that been abandoned for 100 years, no activities taken place for that period. Then you dig a hole, about 2 × 2 meter and 2 meter deep. Then you fill the hole with new soil and gravel. Accidently, you drop a 50 cents coin dated 2023 in the hole you dig. Then for certain reason, you abandoned the project.
100 years later, in 2123, for certain reason, archaeologist come and do the excavation within the hole that you dig and next to the hole.
What will the archaeologist findings ? They will find that, in the same depth about 2 meters , a two different sets of soils discovered They also found the coin you drop dated 2023. While and in the upper soil next to the hole you dig, let assume they found an artefact that relates to 19th century.
In archaeology excavation and research, this is known as Matrix, where the understanding of layers, interface, context, stratification and features are crucial as to describe the association and relation of artefact - sampling.
In the hole you dig, they find relatively the same colouration and material for 2 meters depth. Unlike the one next to yours that shows a different layers, colouration and stratigraphy.
This type of layers and context could be normal especially where human settlement or activities were intense. Sungai Batu for instance.
Therefore, what is the dating ? The 2 meters hole you dig will be dated 2023, while the excavation next to yours, must be older, though at the same 2 meters depth. Meaning, in the same depth, you can have two different dating.
For record, below are some findings that found by FIELD RESEARCHER.
1. 82 sample of charcoal and iron thru Radiocarbon/ AMS gave the dating of 8BC,6BC,4BC, 1BC up to 17th century AD
2. 63 sample of bricks thru Bata melalui pentarikhan OSL SL gave the dating of memberi 6BC, 5BC, 3BC,2BC,1BC up to 13 AD century.
Yes, it correct to say, only one sample dated 788 BC, but there are lot others that dated in BC years as stated above. Year 582 BC, 535 BC found at port facility buildings. 788 BC was found almost at the end of excavation in 2019. After that, the excavation were stop. The FIELD RESEARCHERS might obtained more evidence if the excavation keep continue.
The FIELD RESEARCHERS have no objection on 2nd AD findings since they are who found the datings. From their observation, 2nd AD century was the peak era of iron smelting industry in Sungai Batu. The peak era could only be established thru hundreds or thousand years of progress. The civilisation of Sungai Batu has to gone thru a certain stages. It is impossible to be ABRACADABRA by 2nd century AD.
