Prof. Callenfels' Belief
THEORY THAT KINTA TIN DEPOSITS GO BACK TO GLACIAL PERIOD
Research Work In Perak
Ipoh, 4 June ,1936
WITH regard to the find of prehistoric skeletons on Phin Soon Estate, Sungei Siput, it is pointed out that they are almost complete skeletons, whereas the previous finds were only fragmentary.
Professor Callenfels states that the second skeleton has been excavated all complete except for the feet. The evidence tends to show that this man died prior to the person whose skeleton was dug out last week. The skeleton was below the previous one, and the burial party apparently damaged the bones with tools.
Further excavation work is proceeding in order to obtain a third skeleton. Meantime the two skeletons unearthed are being packed in plaster of Paris for transport to Singapore.
Professor Callenfels is convinced that yet more interesting finds casting light on the prehistoric period in Perak, will be discovered. He thinks that if a thorough examination were made it could probably work back to the Ice Age in Malaya.
In this connection an interesting note from Mr. J. B. Scrivenor, former Director of Geology in Malaya, puts forward the theory that the tin deposits of Kinta are older than Mesozoic granite and go back to the glacial period.
