The first ship presented to SSRNVR (Straits Settlement Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve) which was established on 27 April 1934 was HMS Laburnum, A Minelayer which was a former Japanese ship HIJMS Wakataka. However HMS Laburnum was sunk by the Japanese in 1942.
